Best rock show I've been to in forever

I got tickets to see Shakey because it was my best friend's birthday and she adores him. I knew a handful of his songs, but I was basically going in blind. In a way, I think that made the experience even better. Babe Club was the opening act, and I need to mention them, because they were fantastic. It's one of those bands you just know is gonna be huge before too long. Very happy to have found them. I got to meet them after the show and they were super cool. And then it was time for Shakey Graves. Based on the few songs I knew, I expected a chill, relaxed folky gig. Instead, I got psychedelic rockabilly. Mind-blowing music and staging, perfect vocal performance, and probably the best rock show I've been to in years. Can't wait to do it again. As for the venue, the Capitol Room was ideal: Large enough to fit a proper crowd, but somehow intimate enough to keep the performance personal. Bonus: My friend ran into Shakey casually strolling by before the show, and she said he was as cool as she'd hoped for, which made the show twice as good for her :)
